Can someone get a diversion program for a class a misdemeanor in NY?

Living in NY and having had some run in's with the law here, I wil go out on a limb and say you can get a diversion for a felony! I have been sitting in court waiting my turn to go up and have heard the judge giving diversions for EVERYTHING. Any criminal attorney who gives "free consultations" will be able to verify what I am saying.
