How to get emo type hair with curly&wavy hair!?

Okay, so i have the worse hair type ever! it is both wavy&curly, it is super thick, it is unruly, short and takes forever to grow, and i guess you can say clumpy:but not like afro type clumpy! like if i just run a comb back through all the sides, not only do i lose hair do to the knots, but the end result looks like wolverine's hair and a lion's mane had a kid! what would you recommend to fix this so i can have thin, manageable, straight, loose hair, emo type hair?
