If you are charged with a crime is it a good idea to blacken the name of your accuser?

So you rape a woman who is doing her job. She files a complaint with the police. You are arrested but you are filthy rich socialist and you have the money to buy liars/lawyers and they take months but eventually come up with some dirt and exaggerate or invent it. The trial is dropped as a resurlt. Is this what the law is all about? What do you think?
