Help, i am torn between fashion and science?

My mother has always been saying things like "You're going to be a successful doctor when you grow up" or "I hope you will continue to study hard, and continue learning C++ programming". When she talks to her friends, they usually talk about their kids, and my mother always says "My daughter is going to be a doctor or work in Google, I just hope she won't look up to those fashion designers and artists". I am really good at science, but i am also very interested in make up and fashion. My mom's friend is a well known fashion designer in my country and she said that I do have talent. She even invites me to her showroom pretty often and I usually see her design drawings. (It's not like I'm bragging myself, but I draw just as good as her, maybe even better) She had a conversation with my mom and I've heard it. She said that I have a lot of chance to succeed in the fashion industry, but my mom said that it is just a hobby and that I should use the "Einstein" talent for science and mathematics that I've got, and that if i will study science i will most likely find a job. The thing is, we don't really have a lot of money. I mean, we are not poor, but on the other hand we're not rich. I understand my mom, she is worried because she cares about my future. I will have to live on my own, I have no brothers or sisters to support me and my mom will be too old to work. We currently have no savings and it's hard to save money because my mom's job is not well paid. What should i choose? Science or fashion?
